Context

Hook & Barrel was facing the challenge of digitizing its print magazine and enhancing its e-commerce platform to accommodate multiple payment methods and a variety of subscription models.

The problem Hook & Barrel faced was the transition from the print world to the digital one. Despite having a web presence through their WordPress site, most of their plugins were outdated and did not fit the necessary requirements to offer monthly, quarterly, annual subscriptions or the purchase of individual volumes, which limited their ability to provide an effective digital service.


Plugins were updated and installed and website optimization in terms of speed and usability was important to improve its digital presence.

Investigation

It included web data analysis, subscriber and online buyer surveys, financial analysis, benchmarking and interviews with the internal team. This research revealed that updates and improvements to their website, especially regarding monthly, quarterly, annual subscriptions, and individual volume purchases, generated consistent growth in revenue and online sales.

Ideation

It involves an audit of the current site, choosing a suitable platform, developing a new website with focus on subscriptions and purchases, content transfer, extensive testing, launch and ongoing support. Facilitating a successful transition to the digital world and the efficient management of subscriptions and online purchases.

Conclusions

With an improved website and updated features for subscriptions and online purchases, it has allowed them to expand their presence and reach a wider audience. This solution has helped drive its growth and efficiency in delivering print and digital content to its subscribers and buyers.
